Welcome John Williams - new Mustang District Director

From our District Chairman, Matt Woodruff:"I am pleased to announce that John Williams will be our new Mustang District Director, effective tomorrow.  John began his career in Scouting over 5 years ago as a District Executive in the Greater St. Louis Council.  In 2014, John was promoted to the position of Senior District Executive of the Thunderwolf District in the Sam Houston Area Council.  John enjoys sports, including boxing and bowling, as well as having a passion for traveling. Please help me welcome John and congratulate him on his new role within the movement.  We are fortunate to have John join Mustang as our lead scouting professional.  He will be a resource to all of us and I would never discourage a unit leader from contacting him directly when you need his help, but I also encourage all to know your commissioner and the subject matter experts on the district committee, who should be the first source of assistance for most issues units have.  Contact information for the…See More

Mustang earns Silver JTE for 2014

Mustang District JTE RecognitionMustang District received the Silver Level Journey to Excellence recognition at the Key Leaders Conference.  A huge thank you to the district committee, our volunteers, and our professional advisor, Brendan Cronin, who works so hard every day to make our Scouting program stronger.Scouting’s Journey to Excellence (JTE) is the performance recognition program for councils, districts and units. The BSA Journey to Excellence program uses a balanced approach and key performance indicators to measure performance versus process, encourage and reward success, and achieve the BSA mission. The Journey to Excellence program is based upon a proven balanced scorecard approach. Each level has slightly varying categories and or weighting based upon nationally validated studies that demonstrate what type of focus and achievement is necessary to you compare what you are doing against the standards. District objectives include finance, membership, program (e.g.,…See More

Belief in God

from "Bryan on Scouting"About the ‘belief in God’ requirement in ScoutingPosted on October 3, 2014 in Ask the Expert // 35 CommentsThe BSA asks its members to affirm a belief in God.That doesn’t mean the Boy Scouts of America tells its members which religion to practice. It doesn’t mean Scouts and Scouters must attend their faith’s worship services every week; a Scout could practice his faith privately at home, for example. Here’s what it does mean. I’m quoting the relevant line from the 2014 Guide to…See More
