Scouting operates at its best when families participate in the activities and have fun together. Families are encouraged to assist in making scouting program more successful. Every scout leaders should endeavor to introduce "Parents Volunteering Program" into their system. Let us take more time to talk to the parents of our scouts to know where they can help and how they can come in. Their skills are needed to help our boys to become responsible young men.

Brendan Cronin resigned from Sam Houston Area Council effective last Friday, May 8th. He was a great asset and resource to our Mustang District leadership, unit scouters and our scouts. We wish him the best in his future endeavors. Brendan will join our "volunteer" ranks in Texas Skies district as his son becomes a Tiger this fall.

The 16-hour Leave No Trace Trainer's Course will be offered at Camp Brosig, February 27 to March 1, 2015. This is the course required for youth (14+) wishing to fill the position of LNT Trainer within their unit. Of course, adults are also encouraged to attend. The Silver Beaver Award is the highest form of recognition that a local council can bestow on a volunteer. In 1931, BSA President Mortimer L.
